Math

Gr. 4: No new homework, but be advised that next Friday (October 1) the Grade 4s will have a Math Quiz based on the material in the text from page 34-41
Gr. 5: No new homework.

Request:
We are looking for a parent who can be our Class Communications rep. This way important information from the P.A.C. would be funneled to you, and you would pass it on to those parents of Division 4 who have indicated their willingness to be notified electronically. It is not a difficult or time consuming role, but it is an essential link which promotes open and good communication between the PAC executive and all parents. If you would like to volunteer for this position, please contact Mr. Clarke. Thank you for your consideration!

Reminder:
Monday 27 September is a Professional Development Day, and students do not attend. Classes resume Tuesday.

Science
Today was the last day of summer… the Autumnal Equinox. We had a discussion about one of Gallileo's breakthroughs. Students were to get the gist of the notes and the sketch, which I've attached here.

Spelling
Gr. 4 & Gr. 5: page 12  # 1-3 in respective textbooks (W)

Math
Gr. 4:  p. 36, # 7-10 (W)
Gr. 5: Finish the "pull" chart (W)

Reminders:
This Friday 24 September our school will do our Terry Fox run in the afternoon. If you can help out, please contact the office. In the meantime, donations of a looney or a twoonie from your child's own money would be a meaningful and welcome addition!

Wednesday's dismissal time is 2:25 pm this year.

Thank you for doing your best to get all the myriad of forms signed and back in to us! Whew!

Spelling
First, thank you to all those parents who were able to sign last Friday's first spelling quiz, and send it back to me. This is something I will be doing all year long… any quiz or test, I'll send it home with the expectation that you will sign it and have it returned to me the next school day. That way I know that you know.

Second, you should see this week's spelling list words (careful… both Grade 4 and Grade 5 are doing Lesson 2… make sure you're looking at the correct one).  I try to post them each week in case your child needs to study them and doesn't have the words at home, or your child might have missed the words due to absence or illness. You can print off these words if you choose, and study from that.

Third, both grades have homework (as it happens, it's on the same page and is the same number questions, but from different text books):

p. 12   # 1, 2, 3 (W).

Note that it is due Wednesday (W), not Tuesday.

Math
Gr 4:  p. 36, # 4, 5, 6 (T)
Gr 5:  Handout Lesson 3 as well as text p. 15 # 1-5 (T)

P.E.
A reminder… we have PE on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. I would ask that the children have gym strip to change into and out of these days. At the end of the week your child should take the clothing in its bag home to be laundered… then brought back to school Monday morning ready for another week of PE.

We’ll add more another day!

Welcome to Division 4!

Jane Beleski and I would like to extend a warm welcome to the parents
of all the children in Division 4 (Grade 4/5).

This Thursday night is Curriculum Night at Brooksbank and that will
provide you with an opportunity to see the year plan, to get a handle
on your child’s schedule, and to learn of our expectations. For those
of you whose schedule allows it, we hope you can join us for a few
minutes that night. Otherwise, stop by after school, or phone the
school if you have a question, or you can simply send a note with your
child.

We both look forward to the school year ahead!

Check back here often for updates, homework assignments, or upcoming dates.

Best regards,

– Paul Clarke
