Parents of Gr. 4 students: Thank you for getting your Bighouse forms back in to me. If you haven't done so, please try and get them in as soon as possible.
Gr: 4 No homework
Gr. 5 p. 143 # 1
Parents of Grade 4 students: You should have received a package today via your child regarding North Vancouver Outdoor School's "Bighouse" programme. Please read over the information carefully, note which forms are for you to keep and which are to be returned, completed, to the school. Please attend to this as soon as you can. The Bighouse staff need some lead time to prepare for our class, and you can help us out by returning all forms a.s.a.p.
As I mentioned here yesterday, Ms. Reichert and I will be hosting a short info meeting after school tomorrow (Wednesday 30 March 2011 at 2:30 pm in Ms. Reichert's room). This is by no means mandatory. Indeed, it is only for those parents who have questions you'd like answered. If you feel you'd like to come, please do just show up and plan to stay 20 minutes or so.
Welcome back to Term 3 at Brooksbank school!
Gr. 4: Handout p. 104-5 (T)
Gr 5: No math homework.
Congratulations! Our baby salmon are growing up so fast! Over Spring Break most of the salmon alevin in our classroom tank matured and successfully became "swim-up fry". As you can see from the attached photos nearly all are swimming freely, as opposed to bumping along on the bottom. This means they have inflated their swim bladder and can now actually swim!
If you look closely in some of the photos you can see the hint of a ventral slit (orange-coloured) on some of their undersides. That means not all of the yolk sac has been fully absorbed. Others, as you can see, have fully closed ("buttoned up"). In a few days we'll begin feeding them!
Our Grade 4s will be going up to the Bighouse on April 11-12. Parents of Gr. 4s will receive an info package tomorrow (Tuesday) with a packing list, a Medical form to have filled out, and an Informed Consent to be filled out, signed, and returned along with a cheque. If, after reading the info package, you have concerns or questions, Ms. Reichert and I will be hosting an informal meeting in Ms. Reichert's room this Wednesday 30 March at 2:30 pm. This meeting is not mandatory, but is offered for those parents who wish more information.
No homework over our two-week Spring Break, but I would ask Grade 4 students to get their most recent math quiz signed and returned (March 28)
Have a safe and fun Spring Break!
For Grade 5s in Ms. Reichert's class and Mr. Clarke's class, we are learning about the importance of the salmon industry in BC. Today we looked at two important questions (the process, and jobs), and answered one of them (the process).
Just a reminder that the Student Council has declared tomorrow (Wednesday 9 March 2011) to be WACKY WEDNESDAY!
Students are encouraged to wear clothes that don't match and then wear them backwards or inside out. Wear your craziest hair and top it off with a wacky hat! Unmatched shoes, socks… be creative!
There will even be participation prizes drawn at the end of the day!
Gr. 4: Read "The Whipping Boy" to Chapter 5 and answer the Chptr 1-4 questions (F)
Gr. 4 Fractions & Decimals quiz
Gr. 5 Read Math text p.135-136
If you haven't done so, please sign up for one of the student-led conference times Wednesday 9 March, after school. Thanks to those parents who were able to come today!
